Birthday roses

Hi everyone,I hope you are having a peaceful Easter break wherever you are. It's been drizzly and rainy here all day, so I've been hiding in the craft room!

I've had this die for ages and not used it, so tried it with some scraps from my bits box. It's tricky to cut out so definitely needed the metal shim plate.

I used some washi tape to hold the inlaid pieces in place as I filled the spaces. It would've been less time consuming if I'd diecut from larger pieces of cardstock...but at least I used up some scraps!

I layered a white diecut over the top for extra definition. I also added some leaves from another set as I'd positioned everything too high up on my card. The extra leaves balanced it out I think!

I'm linking up to these challenges:

Dies R Us, anything goes, I've used a Memory Box die.

Crackle paste and squares.

Hi everyone it's time for a new challenge at Seize the Birthday and JoAnn has chosen squares as the theme.

You can always play along with our anything goes theme too, as long as it's for a birthday.
The design team and our guest Lynda have some great cards to inspire you so I hope you can play along.

I've been watching some of the Tim Holtz demos on youtube and wanted to try crackle paste and embossing glazes.
I think I tapped too much of the colour off as the glaze isn't as prominent as I'd planned.

Here's a closer look.

After embossing the glaze I sprayed on some antique linen distress stain. I wanted a darker look so added some golden sands infusion powder and spritzed with water.
Probably a bit too dark now but I think my cardstock had had enough lol!

The butterfly was stamped with versafine clair ink, clear embossed, fussy cut and coloured with Inktense pencils and a waterbrush.

I'm linking up to these challenges:

Allsorts, anything goes, and I'm not using the option of monochromatic.

Simon Says Stamp Monday, Easter or Spring.

Windy Weather!

Hi everyone, the rain seems to have finally stopped thank goodness. I just hope it eases soon in the rest of flood affected NSW.
I think we've had it all, drought, fires, Covid and floods!

The challenge at Simon Says Stamp Monday seemed appropriate,
as the theme is whatever the weather!
At Addicted to Stamps & More, it's make your mark.
I coloured the stamped and embossed image with Zig markers and Primacolour pencils.

Retro Rubber, anything goes using a stamp older than one year.
There's no date on the Windy Days stamp pack but I last posted a card here with it in 2018.

Seahorse birthday.

Hi everyone, it's time for a new challenge at Seize the Birthday and Glenda has chosen a sketch for us this fortnight. Of course, you can always play along with an anything goes birthday card too.

and here's the sketch.

Our party guest Carol and the DT have some great cards to inspire you, so hope to see you in the gallery!

Sketches are a struggle for me, I'm spatially challenged!
I turned the rectangle on it's side and moved the sentiment accordingly so I think it fits OK.

The background was made by spritzing distress oxide sprays in antique linen, peacock feathers and mermaid lagoon, then sprizing with water.

I removed some of the colour from the bubbles with a water brush and paper towel, and added some colour to the seahorse with an Inktense pencil and waterbrush.
The highlights are from a white gel pen.

I'm linking up to these challenges:

This Lavinia seahorse and bubbles have been inked for the first time, so I'm visiting Darnell's
NBUS challenge.

Allsorts, add a stamped image.

Retro Rubber, anything goes using a stamp at least one year old.
The Sebastian Seahorse stamp was released in 2018.

Supplies:

Stamps: Lavinia Sebastian the seahorse and bubbles.Other: distress oxide sprays; versafine clair nocturne ink & clear ep; Uniball signo white gel pen; sentiment sticker.

Watercooler Wednesday DT!

Hi everyone, I have some exciting news!
Heidi from Watercooler Wednesday has asked me to join their design team and this challenge is my first post!
I've loved joining in their challenges over the years and am looking forward playing along with the team and their wonderful inspiration.

Kath is hosting this time and the challenge now runs fortnightly so there's more time to play along with your feminine makes.

My Mum's birthday is coming up and she loves flowers, so I made this CAS card for her.

The diecuts are coloured with distress ink, and the sentiment clear embossed and I've used a  hammered card base as it adds lots of texture.

I'm linking up to these challenges:

Simon Says Stamp Monday, use something green.
I've used just a touch in the greenery.

Supplies:
Stampin Up Botanical framelits; distress ink; Annabelle Stamps sentiment; versafine clair nocturne ink & clear ep.

Shades of green and a tractor!

Hi everyone it's time for a new challenge at Seize the Birthday and Vicky has chosen the theme, three shades of green.

Our party guest Carol and the design team have lots of inspiration for you, so I hope you can play along.
Remember, you can always link up anything goes birthday cards too.

I was asked to make a birthday card for a lad who loves tractors.
I had some scraps of glossy green card so thought I'd try for a John Deere lookalike tractor!

I blended some oxide inks in the background, bundled sage, peeled paint and rustic wilderness.

The sentiment was embossed with versamark and black sparkle embossing powder.
Here's a closer look.

I'm linking up to these challenges:
