24th Birthday fun!

Hi everyone, it's time for a new challenge at Seize the Birthday. Colleen has chosen the theme and it's having the sentiment as a focus.

You can always play along with the anything goes birthday option too. The design team and our party guest have lots of wonderful ideas to inspire you, so I hope you can play along.

My niece turns 24 in a week or so. She has a quirky sense of humour and loves meer cats so I hope she likes her card!

The congratulations circle was a smooshed leftover in my bits box, I added some distress ink to cover up the white parts and to brighten the colours. It's layered on a black diecut for extra dimension and a bit of shadow.

The meer cat was stamped in versafine, clear embossed, fussy cut and coloured with Prismacolour pencils. I positioned him in the circle and drew in his eyebrows!

The numbers were diecut, inked with versamark and embossed with Lindys midnight violet embossing powder. I love the intense purple.
Here's a closer look.

Supplies:
MFT congratulations die; Memory Box parker number die; distress oxide inks; veramark ink: Lindys Stamp Gang midnight violet embossing powder; Katzelkraft meer car stamp; versafine ink & clear ep; Prismacolour pencils; Lawn Fawn reveal wheel sentiment stamp.

Birthday meer cat!

Hi everyone, I had a play with some new to me stamps, the meer cats from Katzelkraft.
Love their crazy expressions!

I stamped, clear embossed and fussy cut the meer cat, then coloured it with Prismacolur pencils.
I added a light blue stencilled background as I thought it needed more colour!

This is also a new to me sentiment set from Clearly Besotted, love the cheeky humour. I popped it up on some foam dots to ground the cat.

Foiled heart.

Hi everyone, have you had a chance to play along at  CAS Stencil this month yet?
The theme is foiling, lots of fun.

I needed a valentine card for hubby and thought a blue heart wouldn't be too mushy for him lol!

I spread some deco transfer gel through this tiny triangle stencil and when it dried, placed some heat transfer foil on top, pretty side up! Then I put it through my laminator.
I added some distress ink to the white base, wiped off the excess with a baby wipe, then diecut the heart.

The diecut sentiment is embossed with lapis pearl embossing powder, the blue is a pretty good match for the foil I think!

Here's a closer look.

Pinwheel fun!

Hi everyone, it's time for a new challenge at Seize the Birthday, and Barbara has chosen white space as the theme.

You can also play along with the anything goes birthday option, if CAS is not your style.
The design team and our party guest have lots of ideas to inspire you so I hope you get the chance to play along.

I'm still waiting on my craft room extension to be finished. The plasterer won't be coming until the rain stops and it's been wet for the last 2 weeks! So I'm using up bits and pieces and found this pin wheel with some matching cardstock in my bits box.

My white space is textured with a tiny bubbles embossing folder.

Foiled numbers.

Hi everyone, I can't believe January has come to an end! This month has gone so quickly I feel like I'm constantly trying to keep up with things lol!

It's time for a new challenge at CAS Stencil and Barb has chosen foil as our medium for this month.

I hadn't done any foiling with stencils even though I did have some foil. Luckily my son had bought me a laminator for Christmas so I grabbed some Deco transfer gel and had a play!

I spread the transfer gel through the stencil and when it was clear (dry) lay some foil (pretty side facing up) onto the stencilled cardstock, and put it through the laminator.

It's a lot of fun peeling the foil back to see how it turned out!
On this peice I decided to colour the white card with some oxide inks. I rubbed them on gently with a makeup brush and then used a baby wipe to clean the ink off the foil. It might be better to colour the cardstock first, I'll try that next time.

There are lots of videos on the blog explaining this technique, and the Design Team and our guest have some wonderful cards to inspire you, so I hope you can play along!
