Purple blue and green for Seize the Birthday

Hi everyone, it's time for a new challenge at Seize the Birthday and Colleen has chosen a colour challenge, purple, blue and green.

You can always play along with our anything goes birthday option too, it's a great way to add to your stash of birthday cards!

My team mates and our party guest Karren have some wonderful inspiration for you, so I hope you can play along.

I used some metallic watercolour paints to colour some cardstock, then diecut the floral border and the new to me butterfly. I layered the flowers on a black diecut (was originally going to put this onto a black base but hubby liked the white one better lol!) I cut a vellum layer for the base of the butterfly.

Here's a closer look at the shimmery paints.

I'm linking up to these challenges:

Double D Challenge, also purple blue and green!

The Sisterhood of Crafters, butterflies, dragonflies and bees.

Supplies:
Dies: Memory Box fairytale flower border and glade butterfly; Metallic watercolour paints; unknown sentiment stamp (possibly Stampin Up) versafine clair nocturne ink & clear ep; hammered cardstock.

Cactus

Hi everyone, these orange colours are warming me up,
 it's been freezing here lately!
Back to work in the school office on Monday, so making the most of my craft room until then!

I stencilled the sun with some distress oxides in mustard seed, spiced marmalade and ripe persimmon.
The tall cactus was cut from some scraps of smooshed blue/yellow cardstock,
then I sponged on green distress inks to consolidate the colours. The short cactus was coloured with distress inks as were the flowers.

I'm linking up to these challenges:

Metallic for Seize the Birthday

Hi everyone, it's time for a new challenge at Seize the Birthday and it was my turn to choose the theme...metallic.
You could use foiling, foil cardstock, gilding flakes, metallic embossing powder, metal sheet or add some metallic embellishments.

You can always play along with our anything goes birthday option too.

My team mates and our party guest have some wonderful inspiration for you, so I hope you can play along.

I used some silver cardstock, embossed it with this new to me 3D folder, then pounced on some alcohol inks in pitch black, slate and rust.

The diecut sentiment was inked with versamark and embossed with liquid platinum embossing powder.
I layered it up onto some black for a bit of shadow to help it stand out.

Supplies:
Memory Box tools 3D embossing folder; silver metallic cardstock; alcohol inks; Creative Expressions sentiment die; versamark ink and Ranger liquid platinum embossing powder.

Hi everyone, I finally succumbed to buying this floral silhouette die.

I had a smooshed oxide ink background in my stash to experiment with and was happy with how it looked.

Favourite Technique for Seize the Birthday

Hi everyone, it's time for a new challenge at Seize the Birthday and Ashwini wants us to use a favourite technique for our birthday cards this time around.

You can always play along with our anything goes birthday theme too.

Our party guest Lorraine and my team mates have some wonderful inspiration for you over at the blog, so I hope you can play along.

One of my favourite techniques is die cutting. (If that is a technique!)
If it's not then there is stencilling and wet embossing, which I've also used on this card.

I must thank Chrissie from Simply One of a Kind for enabling me to buy this horse die, she finds the best dies!! As well as making fabulous cards with them.

Supplies:
Dies: Crafts 4 U stitched rectangle; Charlie & Paulchen horse dies; Stampin Up winter woods die;
Other: Tim Holtz star stencil; gold ink; Happy Little Stampers doodled flowers sentiment.
