Another frantage butterfly

Hi everyone, I've been using a few different colours of frantage on diecuts.

This butterfly is covered in aged black. As you can see it has a lot of silver in it!
Apologies for the dark photo too, my camera is dying!

At Simon Says Stamp Monday the theme is we can see clearly. I've used vellum as a base for my butterfly.

The sentiment boder is diecut from a snippet of black card, so I'm also visiting the snippets playground at Pixie's Crafty Workshop.

Frantage butterfly experiment!

Hi everyone, I hope you are having a relaxing Easter break.

I wanted to make a thank you card for a girl I've never even met!

 She works at a chemist over an hours drive from me and was so helpful when I spoke to her on the phone. She deserves an award for outstanding customer service!

 (This card will have to do instead!)

I've been playing with some new toys, a tag die and frantage.

 I cut the tag on a fold so that it could open up as a card. The butterfly top is diecut from a recycled envelope box as I thought I needed to use chipboard rather than cardstock for embossing with the enamel.

 I wasn't sure what colour taupe was when I bought the frantage, but I love it! I also love the font in this HLS sentiment and the smokey grey ink looks like taupe! 

I'm linking up to the challenge at Scrapbook Boutique where they have this fabulous mood board for inspiration. I was inspired by the cutwork on the chair, and the rustic textures.

At Mrs. A's Butterfly Challenge the theme is to use a butterly + Margins with the optional colour mint. My lacy border fits as the margin.

Oriental pink & gold

 

Hi everyone, there's only 1 more work day before he Easter break!

Hubby and my sons are off camping at Bluesfest for 5 days while I 'll look after the animals, feed the chooks and do loads of housework...or maybe not!

This card used up a scrap made with the  faux stained glass watercolor technique, and a scrap of brushos spattered with gold watercolour paint. I think the strip has an oriental feel.

The challenge at Addicted to Stamps & More is anything goes.

At Addicted to CAS the code word is delicate.

I think these butterflies look delicate even though they are solid.

At The Card Concept there is this gorgeous inspiration pic. I was inspired by the pretty pinks and white. My card fits the clean and layered category.

The theme is a butterfly + M for margins and an optional colour of mint.
My watercoloured panel fits as a border or margin.

Blue & green seascape

Hi everyone, I hope you're having a good week.
 I'm so glad it's just a few more days 'til the weekend!

I misted this tag with dylusions inks and sprayed on some watered down  tarnished brass distress stain for a light shimmer. ( I was trying to clear the blocked nozzle and thought the tinted water was too good to waste lol!)

The starfish have sand texture paste spread lightly on them then I dabbed on a few distress inks. I stamped the sentiment onto tissue paper and attached with glue n seal. A tiny bit of the paper still shows but I think it's ok.

The seahorse is coloured with distress inks, painted over with distress clear rock candy crackle paint.

At Simon Says Stamp Wednesday the theme is a" bit o green".



The greenery is diecut from snippets of green cardstock, so I'm also visiting the snippets playground at Pixie's Crafty Workshop

Dylusions butterfly on text

Hi everyone, this is the third butterfly I made with my new Tim Holtz toy.

Ï think the Dylusions ink ones are less "luminous" than the one cut from the watercoloured panel, but I love the colours. I only have 4 so now will be looking for more!

Dylusions butterfly & brushos tag

Hi everyone, I hope you've had a great week, I'm really looking forward to the weekend so I can have lots of r & r!!

I've had this yellow brushos panel for ages and thought it would suit the challenge at Anything but Cute where the crazy for colour mixed media theme requires vibrant colours.

I've used dylusions ink for the butterfly. I bought 4 bottles of blues and purples ages ago and this was my first go with them. I brushed over the embossing and edges with black soot distress ink. Darnell is hosting another challenge to use your never before used schtuff!

It's nearly closed so I'm just scraping in here!

At Simon Says Stamp Monday the theme is to make your own background. I love how brushos look different every time you use them and they make a great background for butterflies.

At Simon Says Stamp Wednesday the challenge is to use a bit o green.

I thought the tag needed some green to break up the orange and indigo. These pieces of diecuts are coloured with distress inks.

Loll & Bonnie have a new  CAS mix up card challenge.

Brushos fit the watercolouring, and the other elements are dry embossing on the base and butterfly body, and diecuts  I dread stamping on a nearly finished project so I stamped and embossed the sentiment onto tissue paper and glued it in place with glue n seal. (The brushos and DI on the leaves bled a little but I think it's ok.)

If this card isn't CAS enough please remove it,

Trying for luminous not ominous!

Hi everyone, it's been a busy few days here. Had to drive my eldest son to Brissie for an appointment (3 hours away) and took the opportunity to catch up overnight with my sis too! 

Hubby's birthday is 8th March but we decided to celebrate while my eldest son was home, so when I got home I cooked his cake and a special dinner. Whew! 

I wanted to play in a few challenges and have used a new die and embossing set from Tim Holtz, butterfly duo texture fades.

The fabulous Loll and Bonnie have started a new challenge that is CAS but uses mixed media elements, CAS mixup. 

I've diecut the butterfly from a background painted with Kuretake gansai tambo watercolors. When I embossed it the watercolor paper showed through, so I brushed the raised parts with black soot distress ink, and also swiped around the edges.

My stamping element is a Memory Box stamp and the other elements I chose were the dry embossing of the butterflies and distress ink sponging of the stamped panel.

This challenge feels so much like the sort of cards I like to create anyway and I'm looking forward to using some new techniques to mix things up!

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday has a touchy feely theme, it's all about texture!


Darnell is hosting a challenge to use your never before used stuff! Whether it's old or new!
I'm using a brand newbie, although there was lots of stuff lining up as competition!
