CASeing a Case!

Hi everyone, I'm putting my stash into an inventory and am trying to use my older goodies that haven't seen the light of day in ages!

The last time I used this cat stamp was years ago and it was a one layer card, but I thought I'd revamp it to fit a couple of challenges.

The scratched colours were made using the edges of torn post it notes. I scribbled some tombow markers onto an acrylic block, spritzed it with water and dabbed it onto the space. (I touched it up with a brush as it needed more colour.)

I'm linking up to these challenges:

Allsorts, for the love of animals, just scraping it in here!

Balloons for Seize the Birthday

Hi everyone, it's time for a new challenge at Seize the Birthday and Vicki has chosen balloons as the optional theme for this fortnight.

You can always add to your birthday stash of cards with our anything goes birthday option too!

Our party guests Hilary and Claire along with my team mates have some wonderful inspiration for you, so I hope you can play along.

I wanted to try some new supplies and some very old ones that haven't been used before!

I think these hot air balloon stamps were one of my first Stampin Up purchases!
I've had the slimline frame die for a while too, while the slimline sentiment is a newbie.

The background is a mop up piece of watercolour paper from a play with Lindy's magicals. Not much shimmer left as I spritzed a fair bit of water on it. The patchy parts reminded me of clouds.

I inked the sentiment with versamark and embossed it with pearl lapiz embossing powder. It's a pretty blue although it looks black in the pic. The balloons are inked with versafine clair inks and clear embossed for shine.

(The card just fitted in my light box, I'll need to sort something else out for pics!!)

I'm linking up to these challenges:

Cardz For Guyz, embossing wet or dry.

Alcohol Ink Pearls for Mother's Day

Hi everyone, it's been so long since I played with pearl Alcohol inks that I had to watch Tim's video again as a refresher!
Still need to practice a bit more with his ink blower as it works a bit differently to what I've used in the past.
I adhered some foil from a sheet to the tacky parts, and inked the sentiment with versamark and embossed it with gold ep.

I'm linking up to these challenges:

Memory Box pin point heart, Simon Says Stamp Mum and Crafts 4 U stitched rectangle dies;
Yupo; Alcohol ink pearls; foil sheet; versamark ink & Wow gold metallic ep; hammered card stock.

Waxes and a 3D embossed butterfly

Hi everyone, I've had another play with this impresslit butterfly and changed a few things from the last make.

I diecut it from black cardstock and rubbed on just the blue and purple art alchemy wax pastes.
I added some statue foundry wax as highlights and heat set it to bring out the shine.
(Again, I added the antennae from a Memory Box butterfly die.)

The background was sprayed with oxides in dusty concord and salvaged patina with a spritz of spray stain in antique linen. To finish I blended in some vintage photo distress ink around the edge then spattered on some rich espresso metallic paint.

The sentiment die was inked with versamark and embossed with Lindy's midnight bronze embossing powder this time.

I think I like this bronze version better as the butterfly is more vibrant!

Here's a closer look at the shine

Embossed resist with Magicals

Hi everyone, I've been playing with Lindy's magicals.
I watched one of Jennifer McGuire's videos and was inspired to have a go!
(I think I need to find some more open design background stamps as this one is a bit busy, although I really like it.)
I stamped the Cora Background stamp onto watercolour paper with versamark ink using my misti, then clear embossed it.

After spritzing with water I added magicals, I had lots of pots open so not sure what colours I ended up using!

I don't have many shadow die cuts but thought this one suited the card.

I'm linking up to these challenges:

Alcohol for Seize the Birthday

Hi everyone, it's time for a new challenge at Seize the Birthday  and Shirley has chosen alcohol as the theme.

You can play along with our anything goes birthday option too, a great way to build up your stash of birthday cards!
Our guest Hilary and my team mates have some wonderful inspiration for you, hop over to the blog and check it out!

I chose to play with alcohol inks as I don't have many dies or stamps relating to alcohol!

I chose blues and greens (as I always need more masculine birthday cards) and added them to some yupo. A spritz of isopropyl alcohol for added texture and that was that.
Ready to diecut and layer up.

I'm linking up to these challenges:

Allsorts, playing along with the anything goes option

Inkspirational, playing along without the optional twist of sunshine or rain.

Supplies:
Yupo paper; alcohol inks; isopropyl alcohol; Penny Black framed fern die; sentiment sticker.
