Hi everyone it's time for a new challenge at Seize the Birthday and JoAnn has chosen squares as the theme.
The design team and our guest Lynda have some great cards to inspire you so I hope you can play along.
I've been watching some of the Tim Holtz demos on youtube and wanted to try crackle paste and embossing glazes.
I think I tapped too much of the colour off as the glaze isn't as prominent as I'd planned.
Here's a closer look.
After embossing the glaze I sprayed on some antique linen distress stain. I wanted a darker look so added some golden sands infusion powder and spritzed with water.
Probably a bit too dark now but I think my cardstock had had enough lol!
The butterfly was stamped with versafine clair ink, clear embossed, fussy cut and coloured with Inktense pencils and a waterbrush.
I'm linking up to these challenges:
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday, anything goes.
Allsorts, anything goes, and I'm not using the option of monochromatic.
Happy Little Stampers Watercolour Challenge, anything goes.
Butterflies are one of my favourite things that appear in Spring!
Supplies:
TCW mini cubist stencil; Ranger opaque crackle texture paste; Distress embossing glaze, cracked pistachio, peeled paint and broken china; Indigo Blu butterfly stamp; antique linen distress spray stain; PaperArtsy golden sands infusions; inktense pencils; sentiment sticker.
Thanks for visiting,
Cathy x

I love the crackle glaze giving great texture Cathy with that soft blue, and the sand coloured background goes perfectly with the beautiful blue coloured butterfly over the top, and two pretty blue gems on its body too. x
Look at you tapping into your Tim Holtz artsy side. In all seriousness Cathy, I love your background as each square has its own unique design. The butterfly is just as beautiful too. Well done incorporating the topping!
