Back to School

Hi everyone, I'm back with my last card as guest at JUGS - Just Us Girls.
Thank you so much to the team for having me, it's been great fun!

The theme this time is

The design team have some wonderful inspiration for you on the blog so I hope you can play along.

We don't really send cards for this occasion in Australia, so I was at a bit of a loss until I remembered this Paper Smooches stamp set.
I coloured the scientist with prismacolour pencils, fussy cut him and popped him up on foam tape for dimension. His fingers are paper pieced over the beaker so it looks like he is holding it.

The school's back sentiment was done on my computer and printed out on thin card.

I'm linking up to these challenges:

Inka gold rose

Hi everyone, I've been making inka gold backgrounds again.
Mixing the paste with spritzes of water and smooshing around some cardstock in the puddles.
I used a light and a dark pink and the shimmer comes out as silver.

Here's a closer look

I've popped the negative part back on top with some foam tape for dimesnion.
The greenery is coloured with distress inks.

I'm linking up to these challenges:

Teal, yellow and tan...perfect for butterflies!

Hi everyone, I'm back with another card for my guest spot at JUGS - Just Us Girls and this time it's a colour challenge.

The design team have some great ideas to inspire you, so I hope you can play along.

I needed a card in a hurry!
When that happens I tend to rely on any bits and pieces I have lying around, (stamped and fussycut butterflies in this case), and a design I've used before. Boring I know lol!

I coloured the butterflies with Inktense pencils and a water brush. I was die cutting the circle from some cardstock sprayed with oxides and didn't like it. Turned it over to the back and smooshed it into some vintage photo spray stain and thought it looked like distressed chipboard! It's layered up for some dimension.

I'm linking up to these challenges:

Little Red Wagon, embellish it.
I've used bling on the butterflies bodies. For such a small thing it makes a huge difference to the look!

Dies: Memory Box sketchy rings; Crafts 4 U stitched rectangle die.
Stamps (both retired I think): Memory Box cocoa bean butterfly; Annabelle Stamps fanciful flowers
 sentiment.
Other: Inktense pencils; vintage photo distress spray stain; versafine nocturne ink & clear ep; bling from stash.

A sketch with alcohol inks for Seize the Birthday

Hi everyone, it's time for a new challenge at Seize the Birthday and JoAnn has chosen a sketch for the theme this time around.

Of course you can always play along with our anything goes birthday option too.
Our guest  and my team mates have some wonderful inspiration for you, so hope to see you in the gallery.

I struggle with sketches as they usually involve layers which go against my CAS grain lol!
I substituted the horizontal layer with a large sentiment but otherwise I think I followed the design.

The background panel is another piece of silver foil cardstock that I applied alcohol inks to.
I used the same colours in this card. You never get the same results with the colours twice, although I think I was heavier handed with the ink bottles this time around!

I added some gold foil on the sticky inky parts to lighten things up a bit.

I'm linking up to these challenges:

AAA Birthday, anything goes

Supplies:
Silver foil cardstock; alcohol inks slate, rust and pitch black; Crafts 4 U stitched rectangle die; Mama Elephant scripty birthday die; Papertrey Ink star die; gold foil cardstock; sentiment sticker.

Colourful stencilling

Hi everyone, it's time for a new challenge at JUGS - Just Us Girls where I am honoured to be the guest designer this month!

The theme is use a stencil and the design team have some wonderful cards to inspire you, so I hope you can play along.

I've been playing with stencils and crackle paste or glitter paste recently but thought I'd use texture paste for a change. I watched some of Tim Holtz's demo videos and tried a few things for fun!

This card uses a bright and bold panel spritzed with a few distress stains.
It felt a bit flat so I spritzed on glimmer mist for some shimmer, some of it is sitting in the nooks and crannies.

Needed some butterflies to cover up some blotches and used a new to me vine diecut in black as well to tone it down a bit lol!

I'm linking up to these challenges:

Simon Says Stamp Monday, spritz and splatter

Supplies:
Tim Holtz flourish stencil; Ranger opaque texture paste; distress spray stains picked raspberry, scattered straw and speckled egg; Glimmer mist dazzling diamonds; hammered card base.
Dies: Penny Black vine borders; Crafts 4 U stitched rectangle; Poppy Stamps Emelia butterfly trio; Birch Press hello sugar script.

Photo paper butterfly

Hi everyone, I was excited to be asked to be a guest designer at JUGS - Just Us Girls this month!
The theme this week is butterflies, one of my favourites!
The team have some wonderful cards to inspire you, so I hope you get the chance to play along.

I've spent the last little while making backgrounds.
This butterfly was diecut from one that had some distress oxide inks and water smooshed onto glossy photo paper. When dry the chalky residue was wiped off with a baby wipe.
Such a fun technique as the results are always different.

I've got anniversaries on my mind as ours is coming up on the 3rd of September.
34 years! Lucky hubby likes butterflies, and he doesn't look at my blog.

I'm linking up to these challenges:

Mix it up challenge blog, playing along with the CAS option

My happy anniversary die is new so I'm also linking up to

Supplies:
Distress oxide inks, glossy photo paper; Memory Box flitter side butterfly die; Crafts 4 U stitched rectangle die; Sue Wilson mini expressions sentiment die; gold card stock; sequins.

No stamping for Seize the Birthday

Hi everyone, it's time for a new challenge at Seize the Birthday and Glenda has chosen no stamping as the theme.

Of course, you can always play along with our anything goes birthday option too.

Our party guest Karren and my team mates have some wonderful cards to inspire you, so I hope you can play along.

This theme was right up my alley lol!
I LOVE diecuts and took ages to decide on buying this MFT one, but it is a cinch for quick and easy cards.

I had an alcohol inked panel of yupo in my stash that I wasn't overly fond of, but think it's OK now it's diecut.
The hardest part was lining up all of the individual letters!

I'm linking up to these challenges:

Simon Says Stamp Monday, celebrating 12 years!
Happy Birthday!

Supplies:
Dies: MFT big birthday wishers: Crafts 4 U stitched rectangle.
Other: yupo and alcohol inks.

Thank you butterfly

Hi everyone,
I needed some thankyou cards for a male and am hoping these muted colours will fit the bill! Men like butterflies too right?!

I diecut the base of the butterfly from some glossy photo paper smooshed in oxide inks and water. When dry I wiped off the chalky residue with a baby wipe.

I love the font on this retired set by Annabelle Stamps , it's dated 2012!

I'm linking up to these challenges:

Tic Tac Toe, I went with the top row butterfly, diecuts and any sentiment.

Allsorts, butterflies or bugs

Word Art Wednesday, anything goes with a sentiment or bible verse on the blog

Supplies:
Memory Box flitter side butterfly die; distress oxide inks & glossy photo paper; Crafts 4 U stitched rectangle die; Annabelle Stamps fanciful flowers sentiment stamp; versafine clair nocturne ink & clear embossing powder; hammered card base.
