Hi everyone, hoping that you had a very Merry Christmas, and a wonderful New Year celebration.
We had a quiet time at home, as I guess lots of people did. Looking forward to being able to catch up with more friends and family later in the New Year.
It's time for our first challenge of 2021 at CAS Christmas and Julia has chosen silhouettes as the theme.
Pat is our guest and she, along with my teamies, have some wonderful cards to inspire you!
This card was inspired by Tracey from Lavinia Stamps who had a tutorial on creating backgrounds using oxide inks and torn paper. I still need lots of practice lol but this was fun to do! (The deer is supposed to be on hills but I'm thinking it might look like clouds!)
The trees and reindeer are from Lavinia Stamps and the sentiment is a retired Stampin Up one, I love the wispy font!
It's embossed in silver, here's a closer look.
I'm linking up to these challenges:
Merry Little Christmas Challenge, anything Christmas goes.
Lavinia Stamps small reindeer and fairy fir tree small : Stampin Up retired sentiment stamp, not sure of the name; distress oxide inks stormy sky and broken china; Versafine Clair inks nocturne and twilight; Wow metallic silver ep; Crafts 4 U stitched rectangle die.
Thanks for visiting,
Cathy x

Such a beautiful and atmospheric card Cathy. The Deer looks so majestic and yes the wispy font looks fabulous too x.
WOW! This is absolutely gorgeous, Cathy! I think your deer looks totally majestic standing on the hill overlooking the trees and your ink blending is gorgeous! I'll be searching for this tutorial...love the effect on your background ~ xx
This looks absolutely beautiful Cathy and love the pretty blue tones of the snow drifts and the two trees, and the majestic stag is the perfect focal image and love that large sentiment with such a wonderful font and such seamless ink blending too. x
I'd say you aced the class on sponging your ground Cathy - it is just gorgeous - a lovely grounding for your wonderful elk (I just bought him when they had a sale!) Your blue pines are so pretty beside him! xx
Beautiful silhouettes of trees and reindeer. Wonderful sponging for the ground and sky (and no, I didn't think he was standing on clouds - he's definitely on a snowy hill!).
This is just beautiful! You did a great job on the background. Thanks for joining us at Merry Little Christmas challenges
What a peaceful scene you've created with your beautiful hills and majestic reindeer Cathy...lovely, lovely card!! ๐
What a wonderful reindeer that makes a wonderful Winter scene! Great job on that background!
What a beautiful card, Cathy! The blues give it such a cool feeling! Just what we need a bit of now, I'm sure you agree!! Thanks for sharing with us at Watercooler Wednesday challenge. Take care and Happy 2021!
Gorgeous card Cathy, you made such a beautiful scene for your majestic stag and they do look like snowy hills :)
This is such a beautiful serene and peaceful Christmas scene you created. The Elk is so very majestic here looking off towards the shining stars!
Beautiful masking and blending to create your gorgeous night sky Cathy! Wonderful silhouette images to complete your winter scene. I love the silver embossed sentiment which adds some lovely shine. xx
Gorgeous silhouette card, Cathy! Love the stunning blue ink-blending, especially the hills stenciled with torn paper! It looks like the sunshine is coming from the top left corner and that the silver sentiment is reflecting the light. Wonderful design!
Happy New Year to you too! :-) Hideko xx
A lovely Winter scene on your pretty card, thanks so much for sharing and joining us at Allsorts challenge this week.

Just stunning, I love it xx
I think you did a fantastic job with the torn paper blending, Cathy! He is not standing in the clouds, silly. I'm pretty sure it was very windy and you know how the wind plays with the snow and puts it in drifts here and there! Those trees and that sediment were perfect choices for an amazing winter scene! Thank you for sharing with everyone at NBUS! And thank you for the beautiful ornament Christmas card!! Happy New Year Hugs, Darnell
Lovely winter colours on this tranquil scene, I'll definitely try this torn paper technique, thanks for sharing.
WOW - gorgeous - the lavinia stamps are so unique - they have a monochrome challenge going at the moment on FB! Mxxx
Beautiful scene. The torn masked inked hills look wonderful. Grounds the stag perfectly.

Love your card - it's simply stunning! Jo x
The hills are beautiful and the shading is lovely and adds so much dimension. The deer looks stunning beside those trees. I love the look of his fur.
OMG...Cathy, I just received your Gorgeous Winter scene Christmas Card...so worth the wait!!! You took a beautiful photo, but your card is even more Stunning IRL!!! It looked like your stag was standing on a snowbank not a cloud. All your ink blending and stamped trees are more of a light green color than blue IRL too. I will be keeping your card for a beautiful sample of how to create a Winter Scene. Thank you so much, my friend. Love and Hugs...Nancy
This is beautiful! I saw it on the NBUS blog. Your card really grabbed my attention.
