Hi everyone, it's time for a new challenge at Seize the Birthday and I chose the theme this month, creatures great and small, from butterflies to giraffes and anything in between!
You can always play along with the anything goes birthday option too!
My craft room is being extended, and our lounge room made a bit smaller! All of my stash is packed up in boxes with just a few bits and pieces within easy reach, so I'm a bit limited with what I can do. I can't wait for it to be finished!
This stencil monoprint background was in my box of bits and I thought I'd use a stamp set that I've had for ages but hadn't been inked. (I think it's now retired since Happy Little Stampers shop has closed.) Even though the background didn't turn out perfectly I think it gives a sort of tribal look to the lion. I know when this set first came out Ina made some amazing cards with it, and she also used this stencil.
The sentiment is from the same set and I added a small birthday sentiment. My son is a Leo so I'll be tucking this one away for his birthday!
The Design Team and our party guest have lots of ideas to inspire you, so I hope you get the chance to play along.
I'm linking up to these challenges:

What a great card and the stencil is perfect for the background. The lion image is awesome (and a bit fearsome). Can't wait to see pictures your new remodeled craft room.
Oooh, lucky you Cathy, and hope to see some photos when it is done. I love your lion with that very pretty watery stencilled background. I hope the situation with the fires is better now. x
This is indeed a captivating birthday card! Your lion is so regal and the background accentuates and frames him perfectly. We are so pleased that you joined us this week at Watercooler Wednesday.

I'd say that background is perfect for the majestic lion! And how perfect for a Leo birthday.

Your lion is so stately and majestic, Cathy ... fabulous with the warm background that has a real sense of African heat haze in it! Hugs, Anita :)
For sure a gray background for this lion. You will love your new craft room. Glad you forum this card in your stash
Oh, how fun...a bigger craft room! Construction can be a pain but the reward will be worth it! I look forward to seeing it if you attend on sharing a pic when it's done. You picked the perfect stamp for this challenge. The background looks fabulous contrary to your thinking. Well done!

Great "limited supply challenge"! Congrats on getting extension to your craft space. Gorgeous background and the sentiment is perfect for the image.
Late to the party... I love that the background isn't perfect, gives it more interest. And it's perfect for the focal image.
YOu have used one of my favourite ARTplorations stencils here Cathy and I also love the HLS lion stamp. Have both. You have matched them perfectly here.
