80th Birthday Banner!

Hi everyone, it's time for a new challenge at Seize the Birthday

TaeEun has chosen the theme of geometric shapes, and there are loads of fantastic ideas by our party guest and design team to inspire you.

Although you can always play along with anything goes as long as it's a birthday theme.

I made this card for one of the residents at the nursing home where my Mum is living. He was so excited to tell me that his big birthday milestone was approaching!

The banner is diecut from a "failed" background made by smooshing distress oxide inks on photo paper, then wiping away the chalkiness with a baby wipe. Diecutting the banner toned down the discordant colours a lot lol!

I've inked the numbers with versamark and embossed with black sparkle powder. I added a couple of layers for dimension.

I'm linking up to these challenges:

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday where it's anything goes.

Supplies:
Simon Says Stamp party banner and Memory Box parker number dies; distress oxide inks; glossy photo paper; versamark ink & black sparkle ep; sentiment sticker.

Thanks for visiting,
Cathy x

Super CAS card, Cathy. I've never tried using Distress Oxide Inks on photo paper. Thanks for the inspiration. xx

Your birthday banner looks awesome! It's always nice to save those backgrounds that don't look perfect on a larger scale. Terrific CAS birthday card.

Glad you didn't trash your background piece as it worked perfectly for this card! How sweet of you to make this for your mom's friend in the retirement home. I know he will appreciate your thoughtfulness. HUGS!

Love the banners on your special birthday card. Glad you were able to use your "smooshed" piece to die cut them. I am sure the gentleman was very happy to received your great card.

A great way to use up the failed piece and such an effective result cutting them into the flags. I am sure he loved it x

I love the way you have cut the banner from a photo paper DOX background Cathy which has some lovely colours and then added the birthday message in a bold black underneath which makes it stand out beautifully. I'm sure the gentleman will have really loved this card. x

What a lovely gesture, to create a card for him. And I love how it turned out, the colours look wonderful and the glossy finish. I also like the simplicity, perfect.
I bet he was/will be overjoyed.

So creative to use backgrounds for die cuts! I have a bin of 'questionable' backgrounds that I can't bring myself to throw away. The banner is so much fun and I'm sure the gentleman loved the card!
