Hi everyone, have you had a chance to enter this month's CAS Stencil challenge yet?
There's still plenty of time.
The theme is stencilling on patterned paper. You can use sprays, pastes paints, inks, anything you'd like to stencil with.
The design team and our guest have some great ideas to inspire you, so I hope you can play along.
I had some beige paper with textured patterns on it that I thought went well with this Funky Fossil Design tree stencil. I used the branches at an angle to create a pattern with versamark ink. Next I embossed it with some midnight copper powder. I did a couple of embossing layers to add some height and shine to the embossing.
Here's a closer look:
I fussy cut and coloured the butterfly with Inktense pencils and added a sentiment sticker.
I'm linking up to these challenges:
Mix it Up Challenge Blog where it's anything goes.
Stamplorations CAS challenge where I'm playing along with the optional twist of using orange.
Supplies:
Funky Fossil tree stencil; versamark ink; Lindys Stamp Gang midnight copper ep; Hero Arts Antique Engravings butterfly; versafine ink & clear ep; Imktense pencils; patterned paper from stash; sentiment sticker.
Thanks for visiting,
Cathy x

This is so pretty Cathy and love the colour of the background paper and the Funky Fossil tree stencil heat embossed in that beautiful copper colour looks stunning over the top, and the complementary butterfly finishes it perfectly. x
LOVE the tree stencil Cathy! Looks amazing with the deep copper embossing. Great idea to add a couple of layers to give the embossing some depth. Beautiful card! xx
I'm glad you showed us an angled view of that beautiful copper embossed stencil Cathy - so pretty over that subtle pattern on your paper and your butterfly is lovely fluttering on the edge of your panel! xx

WOW! Your DSP is perfect with your stenciled trees and I love how you used layers of copper embossing powder to add dimension to your design! Really beautiful butterfly too, Cathy...Stunning card!
Beautiful card, Cathy. Great way to stretch that tree stencil. Love the dimension from embossing it twice.
These embossed leaves are amazing, Cathy! They make a perfect background for this sweet butterfly!

Beautiful, I love the embossing. You gain special respect for that as I think it is hard to get good clean embossing with stencils - do you have a knack? Perhaps I haven't practiced enough! xx
This is SO pretty, and I've never tried embossing through a stencil, but what a great look! Beautiful!
Beautifully designed, the embossing and shine on the patterned paper is lush. I like how you've manipulated the stencil to look like branches rather than the tree x
Great layering of the heated copper and a fabulous idea just to use part of the tree stencil. Gorgeous tones and a fabulous design x.
WOW! This looks gorgeous ..... great use of that stencil xx
This is so elegant, Cathy. The heat embossed copper stencilling is fabulous and the beautifully coloured butterfly with little gems is a lovely addition.
