Hi everyone, it's time for a new challenge at Seize the Birthday and Glenda has chosen a colour theme for us.
Or play along with our anything goes birthday theme and build up your birthday stash.
Looking forward to seeing your lovely cards.
Our party guest Amanda and my team mates have some wonderful inspiration for you so I hope to see you in the gallery.
I pulled out my packs of kraft card and found a range of colours, from light kraft right through to a very dark one! I used the more traditional kraft for the card front and a lighter one for some of the stars.
I added a range of reds for the other stars.
The inlaying of the stars took a while but was fun. I diecut the star panel in each of the colours so will have enough stars for a few of these cards!
The hardest thing was trying to get the card base curved to match the rounded edges of the starry card front...hmmm. (My corner punch only manages lightweight card or paper.)
I diecut the top layer of the sentiment from glossy black card for a bit of shine.
I'm linking up to these challenges:
Both the rounded star panel and the sentiment are from my stash of unused goodies!
Supplies:
Waffle Flower rounded star panel die; Creative Expressions birthday wishes mini shadowed sentiment die; scrap of black gloss card.
Thanks for visiting,
Cathy x
I love all the different tones of red and also soft gold and white mixed in with it for the stars which work well with the kraft card Cathy, and the bold black die cut sentiment with the white shadow layer really stands out...a wonderful card. x
ReplyDeleteWonderful inlaid card! Love the stars
ReplyDeleteI love the look of inlay dies. Great idea and well executed!
ReplyDeleteThis card is a bunch of fun. Not only to inlay all of the stars, but for the recipient as well. I think this would make a masculine card too.
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful design! It looks great with the different shades of red and fun stars!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had fun inlaying all of those stars Cathy as it made a fun and colorful card. Love that sentiment die too.
ReplyDeleteI love inlaid cards!!! This is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteCathy, such a fun inlaid card with all of the red colors on the kraft. Very cute.
ReplyDeleteGreat card, Cathy! I love that you've done different shades of red and kraft stars, it really adds interest.
ReplyDeleteThis is so stunning! All those stars really bring a smile to my face! And I love how perfectly you've managed to curve those corners - great job there!
ReplyDeleteThe effort of the stars was totally worth it (thank you!). This is such a fun card - love that you used some different shades of red and kraft. Great glossy sentiment too.
