Hi everyone, it's time for a new challenge at Seize the Birthday and Lindsey has chosen the theme, create a scene.
You can always play along with the anything goes birthday option too.
The design team and our party guest, Carol have scenes galore to inspire you, so hope to see you in the gallery!
I used a brushos background for this underwater scene.
Brushos are a pigment powder that explode into colour when you spritz them with water!
You never know what sort of effect you'll get and if you aren't happy with it you can keep spritzing with water and smooshing it on a craft mat to get the effect you do like!
The mermaid was stamped with versafine ink, clear embossed, fussy cut and painted with opal paints.
Hard to capture the shimmer, so here's a closer look.
I added a mat of silver glitter card as the little girl this was for loves sparkles and mermaids!
I'm linking up to these challenges:
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday, favourite technique.
Creating inky backgrounds like this is one of my favourite techniques, as is fussycutting!
Supplies:
Stampin Up magical mermaid stamps; versafine clair nocturne and shady lane inks, clear ep; Art Alchemy opal magic paints; sentiment sticker; Couture Creations silver glitter card.
Thanks for visiting,
Cathy x
How lovely, the background turned out so well especially with the darker shades... makes it feel like the deep. The mermaid is very serene x

I love your beautiful mermaid and set in that gorgeous deep azure Brusho undersea world Cathy. I think the seabed and seaweed looks great just left as outline stamping which keeps the emphasis on the prettily coloured mermaid. x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Cathy! LOVE the gorgeous blues for your underwater scene. The mermaid is gorgeous! The shimmer from the opal paints is amazing! xx
ReplyDeleteWow, the Brushos worked very well to create the underwater. Not easy to do and yet you made a brilliant card.
ReplyDeleteCathy, this is an outstanding watercolor scene. I do not use Brushos often and you have just inspired me to give them a go again. Great job with the mermaid as well. Hope all is well! Take care!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cool underwater scene. Love that beautiful deep blue! Brushos, being as uncontrollable as they are, you've managed to get a wonderful job out of them! Love this mermaid too. And thanks for joining the Happy Little Stampers too!
ReplyDeleteJust a fabulous mermaid and underwater scene.

ReplyDeleteI don't use brushos very often either, in fact I was doing some reorganizing, and now I can't even find where I placed them! LOL Your mermaid is so very cute as is the whole scene, some little girl will surely love this card!
