Hi everyone, I've been watching some you tube tutorials in my spare time.
Wish I had more of that!
Anyway, Tracey from Lavinia stamps makes the most amazing backgrounds with a gelli plate, brayered ink and splashes of diluted brushos.
"Just have a go" she said in the video, so I did. I've only had my gelli plate, unused, for about 2 years!!
I really was so disappointed with the result, here it is.
I have limited colours of the ink she uses (hopefully sorted that now!) and thought this looked a bit too yuk to stamp on. Never wanting to waste anything I decided to die cut it for the flower heads on my new dies.
Such a different look!
I'm linking up to these challenges:
CAS on Friday, use a die,
Supplies:
Gelli plate; Colorbox premium dye ink-sandstone; brushos - burnt sienna, yellow ochre, sandstone;
Tim Holtz wildflower #1 and Crafts 4 U stitched rectangle dies; Inktense pencil -leaf green; Paper Smooches sentiment sampler stamp; versafine clair ink & clear ep.
Thanks for visiting,
Cathy x
Well the die cut flower card looks amazing Cathy..... I can relate to failed experiments - a lot, and have a rarely used geliplate too, wish my mojo was humming I'd get it out - but these days it's been hit and miss, or not there at all - why should crafting be any different, it shouldn't for me, maybe I'll die cut up my bits too ...anyway I love your card, hugs and stay safe Robyn
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous flower Cathy. A gorgeous card.x
ReplyDeleteI love your flower Cathy and a great way to use up those experiments that you are not so happy with. My gelli plate needs to come out to play so may give one of these backgrounds a try and like you my mojo is a bit up and down at the moment so good to have a back up plan for what else to make with them. x
ReplyDeleteGorgeous. Love how it turned out. Play some more.
ReplyDeleteWell now, didn't that turn out to be a GORGEOUS flower!!!
ReplyDeletePaper Hugs,
Jan
Yes I have been watching the videos too and using my gelli plate for the first time. Nope I can't get it the way she does!....Great idea to die cut the flower from your background Cathy and it makes one unique and fabulous CAS card x. I am off to look at my attempts to see what I can do with them! x.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous die-cut flower and I love your CAS card! Beautiful project. We are so pleased that you joined us this week at Watercooler Wednesday. Karen - DT
ReplyDeleteWow, it made a stunning flower and such a great save of what you didn't like. Sometimes it works if you put it away and come back later and see it with different eyes. I do that, then sometimes throw it right in the trash anyway!
ReplyDeleteThis just goes to show you not to throw anything away! This piece was perfect for this die cut flower! Beautifully, CAS!
ReplyDeleteI have only recently bought my gel plate and boy have I got a lot to learn. My first successful make came yesterday or so I think. Maybe the few other pulls I made a while back may come in handy cut down like you did here for that lovely cas flower. Looks so so pretty. Guess we need to keep watching and playing. It is addictive though.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flower! Thanks for joining us at Watercooler Wednesday Challenge! Kath- DT
ReplyDeleteI haven't used my gelli plate either! I love how you used that piece, it looks beautiful! Thanks for sharing with us at Watercooler Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteLove how the variegated colour adds so much interest to this lovely bloom, Cathy ... a gorgeous play with your gelli plate! Hugs, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteI really LOVE how your flower turned out, Cathy! The variation in the colors adds so much texture to the flower petals...Gorgeous card! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Addicted to CAS!
ReplyDeletesuch an interesting pull from your plate. I have a lot of 'fails' so don't feel bad. I think it's all a matter of playing with it and the colours you use.
ReplyDeleteIt sure turned into a lovely card.
xx Karen
