Hi everyone, have you had a chance to play along with the CAS Stencil powdered inks challenge yet? You can use any powdered product like brushos, micas, colour burst, infusions or bistre.
I used brushos for this card, amazingly just one colour, sandstone.
I laid the stencil onto some watercolour paper, sprinkled the powder onto the open sections, as best as I could, then spritzed with water.
The edges of the stencil seeped a fair bit and somehow I got ink on the right hand edge, not a problem though as I just trimmed the watercolour paper down!
There are some video tutorials on the blog site and lots of ideas to inspire you from the DT, so I hope you can play along. It's lots of fun, if a bit messy (if you're anything like me lol!)
I'm linking up to these challenges:
Watercooler Wednesday where it's all about occasions.
Seize the Birthday where it's anything goes birthday.
At Time Out it's a retro theme. Doilies to me fit that bill!
At Stamplorations CAS challenge, I've gone with the anything goes option.
Supplies:
Kaiserkraft lace doily stencil; Brushos; Happy Little Stampers doodled flowers sentiment stamp; versafine ink & clear ep, hammered card base.
Thanks for visiting,
Cathy x
What fabulous colour variation from the one colour of Brusho. Such a pretty and delicate stencil and such a unique and stunning effect....love it x.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous colours for your stenciled background Cathy. That's what I love the most from the powdered inks. So many different colour pigments within each little pot of goodness. Gorgeous mandella stencil and using just a portion keeps your card CAS. The thin black framing and textured card panel add lovely finishing touches to your card. xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous stencil you used for your card today Cathy - how wonderful all those colors are mixed in the one Brusho you used - it looks like you took hours deciding what color to go where!! I think I have to add that color to my Brusho collection! xx
ReplyDeleteStunning piece Cathy. I think I need to play along, so inspirational.
ReplyDeleteAmazing stenciling Cathy. Your panel is incredible. Thanks for joining us at Watercooler Wednesday this

ReplyDeleteOh my, Cathy...Gorgeous lacy stencil with your Brushos powders. I love all the colors of pigment in your Brushos Sand. You did a beautiful job of keeping your colors contained. Always help when you can trim down your image. Love your hammered card base for added texture and framing of your beauty. TFS, my friend. Hugs...Nancy
ReplyDeleteThank you Cathy also for sharing your gorgeous Brushos Stenciled Mandela image card with us at STAMPlorations CAS Card Challenge. Hugs..Nancy
ReplyDeleteI love your mix of colours, Cathy and the stencil is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteWonderful result from just one Brusho colour Cathy. Fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely. I love how Brusho's contain several different colors that just pop out when spritzed. These colors are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card! The stencil/brusho powder combination is gorgeous. Thanks for joining us at Watercooler Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteIn those fabulous brusho colours, this doily certainly does fit our retro theme, Cathy ... it's brilliant ... and the crispness of the image is amazing! This has me thinking I need some powdered inks, even though they're a bit scary! Happy to have you playing along with us at Time Out ... thank you! Hugs, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteDitto on mess that’s me and Brushos that’s why I work on junk mail! Ease of clean up.
ReplyDeleteLOVE this Cathy, totally inspiring ... I want to go home and play, I have a doily one but not sure it will work no too ways but seepage, and stray fingers can be an issue!
As you saw I’ve done mine and love them so that’s good! I was locked into stencil by wanting to combine challenges. Actually think the failed green one not quite completed might be my favourite.
Praying for you,
Hugs Shaz in Oz.x

I don't think I have sandstone Brusho but after seeing this, I think I need some. What wonderful variation of color and such a crisp image! A fantastic card using this technique, Cathy!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful watercolor stencil! Really striking against the white! So happy you linked up to the Time Out Retro challenge where I'm guest designing this week!
ReplyDeleteThis is just gorgeous. You have inspired me to pull out my Brushos. I haven't done that in a very long time. I agree with you that doilies are retro - great idea. Your creation turned out beautifully. Thanks for joining us at Time Out!
ReplyDeleteWow, this is gorgeous, Cathy! Your Brusho watercolor stenciling looks amazing. Wonderful color variation from just one color, sandstone! I thought you planed to offset the stencil - great recovery!
