Sympathy with flowers

Sympathy with flowers by cathroff
Sympathy with flowers, a photo by cathroff on Flickr.

Hi, I made this card for a friend whose mother passed recently after a long illness. The sentiment is from a Papertrey Ink set. I really like the verses as sometimes it can be so difficult to think of what to say.

I'm going to enter a couple of challenges. The code word is Flowers at Addicted to CAS. The Dt has some fabulous creations.

Also, since I used snippets of vellum for the flowers and minuscule snippets for the leaves, I'm entering the playground at Pixie's Crafty Workshop. There is always so much variety in the playground, it's great fun!

Materials used: Memory Box branch, flower and leaves dies; Papertrey Ink stamp; Twinkling H2Os; SU Cloudy Day embossing folder; Distress ink; Kaisercraft pearl bling.

Thanks for visiting :)

  1. Love this embossed background...it is an embossing folder isn't it...Do you mind sharing the name and make as I just love it! It would be so versatile!

Your card is lovely and you are so right about that sentiment.

  2. Hi Mo, it's a Stampin Up embossing folder called Cloudy Days. I've used the reverse side as the clouds have little bumps around the edges and I thought the softer side was better for this card. I distressed the card first with Broken China ink and then embossed it.
It's the first time I've used the folder as I got it just recently. Thanks for your visit :)

  4. Great idea to use the deboss of the ef - more subtle which is perfect with your sympathy card. Great colors and love the cherry blossom branch - so delicate with the vellum. Thanks for joining us at Addicted to CAS. Loll xx

  6. Hi Cathy! Were you hanging round outside the gates waiting for the Playground to open then? :)

I adore this really CAS card - so pretty and fresh. Lovely to see you and Mo having a natter about the SU embossing folder, a bit like two little girls in a corner of the Playground sharing their secrets :))

Have a lovely day, hugs, Di xx

  13. Hi Cathy, such a beautiful card and I think the sentiment is perfect for the occasion ... I like it so much I've written it down. I don't think we can get Papertrey Ink stamps over here in the UK which is a pity. Elizabeth xx
